Iran selected guest of honor at 2026 Baghdad Book Fair

IBNA- Iran has been officially invited as the guest of honor at the 2026 Baghdad International Book Fair, marking a significant milestone in cultural collaboration between the two nations.

The announcement was made by Ebrahim Heydari, spokesperson and deputy director of the 36th Tehran International Book Fair, during discussions with Abdul-Wahab Al-Radi, head of Iraq’s Publishers Union.

Heydari revealed that final arrangements are underway to allocate space for Iraqi publishers at the upcoming Tehran International Book Fair, which is set to take place from May 7 to May 17, 2025, at Imam Khomeini Mosalla under the slogan “Let’s Read for Iran.”

During a meeting with Iraqi delegates, including Al-Radi, it was agreed that Iran would host a dedicated pavilion at the 2026 book fair.

The Baghdad Book Fair aims to solidify its position as a key player in the Arab world’s literary ecosystem. Not only does it offer access to the latest works from Iraqi authors and publishing houses, but it also highlights works from Egypt, Lebanon, and other regional powers. The fair provides a rare opportunity to witness how Arab literature continues to evolve in response to both local and global trends.

As Baghdad solidifies its role as a cultural capital, events like the Baghdad International Book Fair remain central to Iraq’s cultural renaissance. Whether through meeting world-renowned authors, exploring the latest literary offerings, or simply spending hours lost in the pages of a new book, this year’s fair promises an enriching experience for all who attend.
