Rumi-inspired Persian calligraphy exhibition opens in Trabzon

IBNA- An exhibition of Persian calligraphy inspired by the mystical poetry of Rumi has opened at the Hamamizade Ihsan Bey Cultural Center in the Turkish city of Trabzon, showcasing works by Iranian artists.

The display, organized by the Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research (ACECR) in collaboration with the Cultural Attaché of Iran in Turkey, the Iranian Consulate-General in Trabzon, and the Municipality of Trabzon, is part of events marking the 2025 Iran–Turkey Cultural Year.

The opening ceremony, held on November 4, was attended by Trabzon Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç, Iranian Consul-General Naser Mohabbati, Chamber of Commerce President Adnan Taş, local officials, cultural representatives, and Alireza Behboudi, Iran’s Deputy Cultural Attaché in Turkey, representing the ACECR.

The exhibition runs for three days, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., featuring 40 selected works by graduates of ACECR’s specialized calligraphy and illumination program. The collection includes Nastaliq, Shekasteh-Nastaliq, and Siyah Mashq calligraphy, as well as miniature painting and Tazhib (illumination), created under the artistic supervision of Hamid-Reza Jamshidi over six months.

Previously exhibited in Ankara and Istanbul, the Trabzon edition is supported by the Al-Huda International Institute for Culture and Arts. Organizers said the initiative aims to promote Iran’s artistic heritage, strengthen cultural exchange between Iran and Turkey, and expand international markets for Iranian art.

Located in Trabzon’s Iskender Pasha neighborhood, the Hamamizade Ihsan Bey Cultural Center features a 600-square-meter exhibition hall among other facilities.

Officials said the exhibition reflects the goals of the 2025 Iran–Turkey Cultural Year, which seeks to deepen artistic, literary, and civilizational ties between the two nations through shared heritage and contemporary collaboration.
