Friedrich Dürrenmatt's 'Play Strindberg' available in Iranian bookstores

IBNA- 'Play Strindberg' a play by Swiss author and dramatist Friedrich Dürrenmatt has been published in Persian and is available in Iranian bookstores.

This book has been translated into Persian by Ali Najimi. Tehran-based Yekshanbeh Publishing has released 'Play Strindberg' in 84 pages.

Written in 1968 and published in 1969, 'Play Strindberg' is a free adaptation of August Strindberg's The Dance of Death (1900), using Strindberg's characters.

The title is a reference to Jacques Loussier's Play Bach series of recordings. The play premiered in Basel on 8 February 1969.

Dürrenmatt 's plays reflected the recent experiences of World War II. The politically active author's work included avant-garde dramas, philosophical crime novels, and macabre satire.

He was a member of the Gruppe Olten, a group of left-wing Swiss writers who convened regularly at a restaurant in the city of Olten.

Dürrenmatt was a proponent of epic theatre whose plays reflected the recent experiences of World War II. The politically active author's work included avant-garde dramas, philosophical crime novels, and macabre satire.

Since 2000 his works have been exhibited in the Centre Dürrenmatt, part of the Swiss National Library.
