Iran's Book and Literature House attends Int'l Belgrade Book Fair

IBNA- Representing Iranian print industry, the Book and Literature House Institute in Tehran is participating in the 67th International Belgrade Book Fair, which kicked off on October 19 in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia.

In this year’s edition of the fair which will run by October 27, Iran's stand has been set up by the Iranian cultural attaché office in Serbia in collaboration with Iran's Book and Literature House. It showcases the latest works by Iranian publishers in Persian, English, and Serbian.

Four newly published works in Serbian by the cultural attaché office, supported by the Islamic Culture and Relation Organization, will be unveiled at a special session. The books include “Imam Reza (AS), the Wise Man of the House,” “Divan of Hafez,” Nour magazine about successful Iranian women, and “Contemporary Iranian Literature”.

The opening ceremony of the book fair was attended by Serbian Minister of Culture Srdjan Selakovic, Cuban Minister of Culture Alpidio Alonso Grau, and various ambassadors and cultural representatives, including Rashid Hassanpour, the Iranian Ambassador to Serbia, and Amir Pourpezeshk, Iran's cultural attaché in Serbia, along with numerous publishing professionals. Cuba is the guest of honor of the fair.

During the opening ceremony, both Selakovic and Grau visited the Iranian booth, where Hassanpour and Pourpezeshk warmly welcomed them.

In addition to Iran and Cuba, publishers from Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Italy, Congo, Morocco, Germany, Romania, Russia, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, Croatia, and Montenegro are present at the fair. In addition to the exhibition area, visitors can enjoy over 500 events held during the fair including conferences, round table discussions, guest author presentations, panel discussions, workshops, etc.

The International Belgrade Book Fair, a literary event of the highest reputation in the region, is organized this year under the slogan “The Word is Free,” with the participation of more than 400 direct exhibitors from Serbia and abroad.

The fair aims at helping publishers, authors, booksellers, librarians, book distributors, multimedia companies, and other people in the business establish contacts, exchange experiences, make business deals, and start other forms of business and cultural cooperation.
